“Welcome to a new era in Force“, says music equipment manufacturer, Akai Pro. Already known as a standalone sampling and sequencing powerhouse, and versatile Ableton Live companion, Akai Force now boasts new possibilities in a free firmware update to version 3.0.5. This includes a new Arranger, MIDI Multi, Macros, Ableton Live Project Import, Advanced 16 levels and more.
A Force to be reckoned with
Prior to this update, Force made for a great sketchpad for laying down quick ideas before transferring them over to a DAW and adding the finishing touches there. Now, with the Arranger, Force can be used to develop a song from start to finish, with the ability to record and edit clips. The GUI allows for swift navigating around your project using the touch screen, letting you move clips and sections around with ease.
Once you’ve created an arrangement you’re happy with, you can use the built-in effects to create a final mixdown and export the track as a stereo master. Alternatively, you can bounce out the project as stems ready to mix and master in an environment of your choice.
Force can now be used as the centrepiece of a comprehensive setup thanks to MIDI Multi, allowing the independent control of up to 32 MIDI devices via USB. Attach a USB MIDI hub and hook up your arsenal of synths and drum machines, with Force capable of setting device names, layering MIDI tracks and configuring device behaviour with Track and Master settings.
A refined workflow offers control over multiple parameters with custom knob assignments, letting you set up Force to suit your needs. With Force 3.0.5, enhanced 16-level functionality provides freedom across a range of performance styles with the pads.
Force comes pre-mapped to Ableton Live for a seamless experience with the DAW, either wirelessly or via Ethernet cable. But for an even more integrated experience, Force 3.0.5 allows you to import Live projects into the device, as well as the ability to export as a Live project.
