Back in September, Erica Synths announced its collaborative effort with Riga Tech University to release SYNTRX. It has now been confirmed by Erica Synths that the analogue synth will ship from May 2020, after the company dealt with delays due to COVID-19.
In the meantime, Jean-Michel Jarre has voiced his opinion on the synth, hailing it a “true masterpiece”, and claims he has “been waiting 50 years for this synth”. You can watch Jean-Michel Jarre’s thoughts below, and also see how music production YouTuber, Hainbach, is producing an album with the new synth.
SYNTRX is based on EMS’ Synthi AKS, which was used by Pink Floyd and Brian Eno, presumably for its ability to instantly create cosmic sounds, with a joy-stick controller, ring modulator and more.
SYNTRX will be shipping in May 2020 and costs €2500, find out more at ericasynths.lv.
